woodwork or walls first
Bare wood must be primed before further coating. emulsion paint for walls and ceilings can be applied direct to old painted surfaces, once cleaned and sanded, with two coats normally being required. if painting the whole room, start with the ceiling first, then the walls and then doors, windows and skirting.. If work is still being done on the room, or there's a lot of work traffic through the room, you can buy yourself some time by painting the trim first. this leaves the walls for last, when (hopefully) there are fewer things moving in and out that can mark up the new wall paint.. After the wall paint is dry, i'd then apply the final coat of paint to the woodwork using an expensive two-inch tapered brush. the final coat of woodwork paint extends to the edge of the woodwork where it touches up against the walls.. woodwork or walls first
If you paint the woodwork first then when you paint the walls you will get paint all over the woodwork. if i done the woodwork first i would get the sack. and don't use water based paint on skirting boards. water based paints dry brittle and chip of when kicked or bumped with a hoover.. Wood, laminate, tile, vinyl and linoleum flooring installation require you to use tools, such as trowels or hammers, and bump your materials up against the wall. it's easy to ding, scratch or get.
